Japanese climber Nobukazu Kuriki has died during his 8th attempt to climb Mt. Everest. In 2012, Kuriki had to have nine fingertips amputated after surviving two days in a snow hole, also on Everest, at negative 20 degrees Celsius.

Moron….he allmost died once trying it.
Are the other hosts still working for WT? Just curious.
Rest In Peace Kuriki, you were truly an inspiration
Anyone say they actually made it?
got no sympathy for the guy coz it sounds as if he brung it on his self by doing stupid things on one of the worlds most dangerous place’s rather than respecting the dangers and taking the right safety procautions.
coz 8 attempts is well to many attempts to try something dangerous if u aint done it in 3 attempts at most u r clearly not cut out to do it so if u carry on its your fault if u die, even tough if u choose to do something dangerous and u die after 1 try it was your choice 3 times is more than enough warning tough
craig h i mean having sympathy or not hes still dead so who cares if you do or dont. Thanks for letting everyone know how edgy you are tho ?
I feel bad for the poor sods who have to bring these halfwits down
Robert King They don’t. The bodies are left up there generally.
just put a parachute on to them and trow them over the edge and hope for the best even if it is considered disrespectable to the body
*Japanese* dude dies awwwwww
Thousands of people died in mount Everest …………… …
Baupylypuab yur
Japanese dude, not Chinese dude. If you are from America you’re excused though.
UMMM K get your facts straight
if this was in the US i bet they would try and prevent people from trying to climb it.
RIP
I’m surprised this made WT. Kuriki did place a lot of challenges onto himself (as this video mentioned) but what’s been discussed now in Japan is how reckless his last attempt was. There have been numerous blogs that predicted that he will die if he keeps doing these challenges. From my understanding, he was good at motivating people and had many sponsors.
That being said, R.I.P. I didn’t know about him till his passing but he seems to have motivated many people and it is sad that a life was lost.
Thanks dude. This info is a great supplement to the vid. Also in same boat as you, did not know of him until this vid. Tragic, reckless and inspirational. A life to remember.
Hey Shira, love your work. If you want any help with Japanese related news/translation (provided they are not super long), I’m always willing to lend a hand. Feel free to message me whenever.
interesting – thanks for sharing
