Fun fact: in Japan studying is so important because without a complete education it’s very difficult to function in society. And I don’t mean the way it is in the US. For example, until your last year of college you’re still learning Kanji, the more advanced alphabet of Japanese characters. Kanji is very common in Japan & Katakana (considered the simpler alphabet of characters) is mainly for children & teens while they’re learning Kanji. Romaji is for those of us in English speaking countries who don’t know Kanji or Katakana. So, why is education so important in Japan? Simply put, because if you don’t finish college you won’t be able to read
